Norumbega Covered Water Tank
Client: Massachusetts Water Resources Authority
| As part of a design-build joint venture, M&E served as design engineer for this 115-million-gallon covered storage facility in the Boston suburbs. The tank has a surface area of 17 acres. Construction was timed to coincide with the completion of the 405-mgd Walnut Hill treatment plant and a major new water supply tunnel. The site contains an extensive network of brooks and wetlands whose flows had to remain unchanged during construction and future facility operation.
