Florida Dry Cleaning Site Cleanup Program
Client: Florida Department of Environmental Protection
Waste management practices in the dry cleaning industry have resulted in the release of a variety of dry cleaning wastes into the atmosphere, soil, and groundwater. Common disposal methods have included septic tanks, stormwater drains, and dumpsters.
Metcalf & Eddy is providing turnkey services from initial site assessments to O&M at 2,700 contaminated dry cleaning sites throughout Florida. Each site requires assessments to determine the extent and magnitude of contamination and RBCA evaluations to identify completed exposure pathways. Depending on the extent of the contamination, sites undergo active remediation, natural attenuation or no further action.
