The Metcalf & Eddy Academic Design Competition is primarily aimed at providing students with a practical application of multidisciplinary environmental engineering principles to supplement material that they are exposed to via classroom teaching.


The competition will impart to the students a glimpse of exciting environmental engineering applications and greatly enhance their overall environmental engineering educational experience.

Eligibility

 

Entries are open to academic institutes in North America. Participating team members must have a faculty advisor who will serve as liaison with Metcalf & Eddy. Team members shall be primarily undergraduate students, but participation of graduate students is acceptable. Detailed criteria for eligibility are described in the general guidelines.

Evaluation Criteria

 

Evaluations will be performed by Metcalf & Eddy staff. Specifically, the following aspects will be given the maximum weight:

  • Clarity and comprehensiveness of evaluation
  • Justification for selected technology
  • Presentation of Report and Poster

 

Awards

 

The winning team will receive an award of $2,500. Additionally, the University liaison will receive $2,500.

 

Each member of the winning team will receive a copy of the Metcalf & Eddy textbook. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.

 

The overall award winning project design may be selected by Metcalf & Eddy for further study.

 

Schedule


Complete problem package will be available August 24, 2007. Final submission is due April 6, 2008.
